I've been hearing about a lot of people going on these expensive vacays. My question is where do they get the money? If you can afford it, that's great. But, if you're in debt to go to a sunnier place is it really worth it? I don't know....maybe I should just wonder about this to myself. I, personally, like St. George. Thoughts?

I hear ya sister! Nothing drives me more crazy hen seeing people spend money that is not theirs!
I have had the same thoughts myself. I grew up with parents who were not able to take big vacations until later in life. They never paid for it with credit. Bart and I do some overnight things. Someday...but not at the expense of going into debt. I know some people really can afford it, but I think most just act like they can.
i often wonder this myself. answer= credit card debit. i personally don't believe in credit cards, but apparently most people have multitudes of them...and they're all maxed out. {it's amazing how many of our dental school friends manage to go to hawaii and on cruises...and buy houses}
Debt for vacation??? I think someone important said something about this recently... oh yeah Conference. :) And I am going on a few vacas soon, but they are saved saved saved for. (And some REALLY nice parents!) St. George would be an expensive trip for us right now. sigh. But nice. Meet you there in a couple of years, k?
Nobody should ever go in debt to go on a vacation, but I know that it is just as cheap to go somewhere exotic for the same price as going to California {or flying anywhere in the U.S.}. But then again Oliver and I are total dirt baggers when it comes to traveling.
The last real vacation we went on was 8.5 years ago. Since then, we knew for our 10 year anniversary we wanted to do something special (i.e., Hawaii). So since then, we have been saving up to make that happen. I wish we could travel more, but I agree with everyone else - it's not something you should do if you can't afford it! Just my two cents.
i think the obvious answer is, they don't have the money. they are just living in the moment... or their mommy and daddy pay for it. sadly, right now it's really catching up with some families when they choose to live beyond their means.
personally, i'd rather be able to sleep at night than take an exotic vacation i couldn't afford..
I totally hear ya. I've brought this up so many times with my husband.. hearing about vacations and seeing them on blogs of people our age... I always say... I just don't get it??? How is the world do they do that!? If we can't drive there, we don't get there:) (except for coming home 'Cali to Utah')
